Meet the Team

Hello!

Meet the founders of The Hearing Place and discover why we love what we do!

Jess Kyei-Yamoah

Audiologist

Since qualifying over 18 years ago, I started my career working for high street hearing care providers. Throughout my career, I was promoted to undertake additional roles including in-field trainer, clinical auditor, and clinical supervisor for new students.

In 2020, COVID made me re-evaluate my career, and I decided to take the plunge and set up my own, independent hearing care business with my husband, Sam. We have never looked back, it was the best decision we ever made!

My patients are at the heart of everything I do. I am at my best when helping people to hear better. I genuinely love nothing more than the satisfaction of learning how much better people have been hearing since I’ve fitted their new hearing aids. There’s still that funny ‘goose pimple’ moment when I hear clients raving about the improvements.

In my downtime I enjoy reading, walking my miniature dachshund and cuddling my sphynx cat (not all at the same time)! I love spending time with our two daughters, friends and family and eating out.

Sam Kyei-Yamoah

Clinical Ear Specialist

I’ve worked in health care environments for the past 10 years and thrive on providing personalised care to my clients. I’m very client-centred in my approach and do all I can to make sure the patient’s needs and desires are met.
I love the immediate gratification that wax removal provides. By the end of an appointment, clients feel much better and their hearing is usually improved.

When you make an appointment for wax removal, it could be any of us (Helen, Jess or I) that comes to see you. We are all fully trained in wax removal. If you require a full diagnostic hearing assessment, it will be Jess who conducts this appointment and any hearing aid fittings.

When not at work I spend time reading motivational books, running and listening to a wide array of music.
I promise not to sing during appointments once wax removal has been completed!

Helen Overton

Clinical Ear Specialist

I spent the first seven years of my hearing care career working for a leading high street hearing company. Since qualifying, wax removal was all I wanted to do and I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely mine!

Since joining The Hearing Place over 3 years ago, my passion remains in ear wax removal. I have mastered the skill required and work to an exceptionally high standard. It is so satisfying having the ability to unblock people’s ears and give them back their hearing. Clients have described having their hearing improved as ‘a gift’ and it truly makes my day.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughters. I have started collecting orchids, I have a few different varieties but I’m always on the lookout for the more unusual types. If I have any more free time, watching true crime is another favourite.
