Meet the founders of The Hearing Place and discover why we love what we do!
I’ve worked for high street hearing care providers since qualifying over 15 years ago. Throughout my career, I have been promoted to undertake additional roles including in-field trainer; supporting my colleagues, clinical auditor, and clinical supervisor for new students.
The patients have always been and will always be at the heart of everything I do. I am at my best when helping people to hear better. The reason I do what I do is that I genuinely love nothing more than the satisfaction of learning how much better people have been hearing since I’ve fitted their new hearing aids. There’s still that funny ‘goose pimple’ reaction when I hear clients raving about the improvements.
In my downtime I enjoy reading, walking my miniature dachshund and cuddling my sphynx cat (not all at the same time)! I love spending time with our two daughters, friends and family and eating out.
I’ve worked in health care environments for the past 10 years and thrive on providing personalised care to my clients. I’m very client-centred in my approach and do all I can to make sure the patient’s needs and desires are met.
I love the immediate gratification that wax removal provides. By the end of an appointment, clients feel much better and their hearing is usually improved.
When you make an appointment for wax removal, it could be any of us (Helen, Jess or I) that comes to see you. We are all fully trained in wax removal. If you require a full diagnostic hearing assessment, it will be Jess who conducts this appointment and any hearing aid fittings.
When not at work I spend time reading motivational books, running and listening to a wide array of music.
I promise not to sing during appointments once wax removal has been completed!
I have spent the last seven years working for a leading high street hearing company. Since qualifying, wax removal was all I wanted to do and I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely mine! My passion is in wax removal, it is so satisfying having the skills to unblock people’s ears and give them back their hearing.
Clients have described having their hearing improved as a gift and I’m incredibly grateful that I have the ability to offer that. As part of The Hearing Place York team you’ll see me visiting clients in their homes and in clinics, making the wax removal process as easy as possible.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughters, spending time in my garden, both sitting in it and growing pretty and unusual flowers. If I have any more free time, watching true crime is another favourite.
